Buyer: Due to sustained, impressive growth Texecom, a leading provider of security systems, products and services, are looking for an experienced Buyer with knowledge of MRP and business management systems to ensure materials, goods, consumables and services are purchased within required timescales, specifications and costs.
The successful Buyer will play a pivotal role, handling and improving multiple aspects of the buying process from purchasing to budgeting to supplier relationships for this leading, well-established supplier of security systems.
Headquartered near Manchester, Texecom is a global company with offices in the UK and India and sales in over 30 countries.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
Source new suppliers of products/services to ensure best prices, terms and capability.
Undertake tender exercises with suppliers for placement of new parts or price reduction on existing parts including all communication/meetings with suppliers and collection/analysis of data leading to decision making on preferred suppliers.
Set up and maintain purchasing/supplier data on Epicor business system.
Create purchasing forecasts, schedules and orders and place with suppliers ensuring supply pipeline is in line with demand whilst ensuring on-site inventory is optimised.
Expedite supply of parts from suppliers to ensure no disruption to production.
Monitor supplier performance.
Conduct supplier audits for new and existing suppliers with a focus on underperformers.
Work closely with R&D Team to ensure suppliers provide technical support for existing parts and identification of next generation technologies to support new product development.
Identify/implement improvements to purchasing systems (eg; vendor managed inventory, consignment, EDI) focussed on automated processes and least cost to business.
Support the improvement of goods receiving processes to facilitate efficient receipt, storage and use in production.
Skills & Experience
Knowledge of MRP and business management systems
Experience of different techniques for procurement
Knowledge of inventory control systems
Knowledge of importing/exporting goods
Ideally CIPS qualified
Advanced level knowledge of excel and data processing
Good problem-solving skills
Ability to adapt to and initiate/implement change
Strong communication skills (in particular negotiating and presentation)
Proactive and forward thinker
