This is a position ideally suited to an experienced general insurance underwriter who has exposure to liability and property classes of business. This is an important role within a busy team as you will be handling complex accounts account for the branch.
Your job duties will be:
To underwrite and handle all technical referrals within company guidelines and authority including, but not limited to: Making informed underwriting decisions and negotiating risks within delegated authority; Implementing training and development of team(s) in line with company guidelines; Providing technical support Handling complex queries as necessary; Communicating issues and feedback with team Ensuring all relevant systems are updated in timely manner; Developing and maintaining quality service and relationships with all internal and external customers; Implementing company’s underwriting philosophies and practices to ensure that the team’s technical standards are maintained; Achieving budget and profitability objectives set by Profit Centre(s); Assisting in production of reports as required.
Ability to negotiate risks and make sound underwriting decisions within authority Frequency and quality of training, knowledge-sharing, and feedback to team members and company Centre(s) Quality and consistency of technical support to branches Ability to update all relevant systems in a timely manner Development and maintenance of productive relationships with all internal and external customers Ability to meet SLAs
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
Strong leadership skills and ability to foster a team approach. Excellent knowledge of commercial products Understanding of broker/client relationship Ability to build and maintain strong, productive relationships with internal and external customers Service-orientated approach Good working knowledge of MS Packages Good communication skills written/verbal Awareness of the impact of regulation and FSA Ability to prioritise and manage work
