The Faculty of Science & Engineering has invested heavily in its digital presence in the last 12 months to significantly improve the communication experience of its staff, students and visitors. Due to maternity leave, we are looking for an interim Digital Marketing, Content & Web Manager to lead the Digital Marketing team to continue the delivery of the Faculty’s strategic priorities and play a lead role in delivering an audience-informed programme of digital change.
The successful candidate will play a vital role in shaping key digital projects and defining the process of future digital project delivery, and committed to actively leading a multi-skilled team to deliver on goals across student recruitment, strategic activity and external engagement.
Reporting to the Faculty Head of Communications and Marketing, you will manage a specialist team to provide a best in class digital presence across our established channels including blogs, social media channels and also the Faculty’s web estate. Engagement with these assets is driven by strategic digital marketing campaigns.
You will liaise with many stakeholders across the Faculty to ensure a thorough understanding of the operational priorities for the School of Engineering and the School of Natural Sciences, and their Departments. You will support the team as they maintain and develop an intuitive and informative digital presence in accordance with University guidelines, industry best practice and Faculty objectives. You will also represent the Faculty on many decision making groups across the University and lead as an active brand ambassador to support the overarching University’s digital vision. You will take a collaborative approach to working with digital, marketing and communications professionals at local and corporate levels.
You will be a confident, collaborative and highly visible team leader with extensive experience of managing medium-sized digital marketing, content and web build teams. You will also be comfortable managing complex digital ecosystems, and experienced in directing high profile digital marketing campaigns with clear KPIs and delivery deadlines. As well as confident in providing practical advice on creating engaging and impactful digital experiences for external and internal web users. Specifically, you will play a leadership role in ensuring the Faculty’s web presence adheres to the guidelines as stipulated by the 2018 accessibility legislation according to the WCAG and W3C.
Experience in managing a high volume of demand with effective prioritisation and clear team direction is essential. You will need a strong collaborative approach supported by clear communication, whilst being comfortable with a fast paced, ever-changing digital landscape. Proactive and positive team leadership, coupled with a proven ability to support individuals, are essential in leading a busy, diverse and enthusiastic team.
