A leading manufacturer of advanced materials is currently recruiting for a Materials Scientist to join its innovation team based in Manchester, on a permanent basis. As a Materials Scientist, you will play an important role in leading new product development projects (composites/polymers) whilst having the ability to oversee the testing of finished products.
Materials Scientist responsibilities
Leading new product development projects from inception through to finished product.
Development and improvement of existing products and processes.
Evaluation of alternative raw materials and technologies to continuously improve product performance and sustainability.
Preparing technical reports and presentations.
Carrying out and overseeing the fabrication, measurement, and analysis of materials on a laboratory scale.
Maintaining quality standards.
Materials Scientist requirements
BEng/BSc level qualification in Materials Science, Materials Engineering, Chemistry or closely related field of study.
Possess experience working within a commercial R&D environment – working with materials such as composites, polymers, and ceramics.
Experience working in a technical/engineering role within a manufacturing environment would be advantageous.
Highly motivated to achieve results, with the ability to meet deadlines.
Excellent communication and organisational skills.
