Salary: Circa GBP 30,000 – 35,000 per annum DOE (plus London Weighting if applicable)

We have an exciting opportunity for a motivated Operational Information Security Lead to provide operational support for critical IT Security Services across multiple sites, which provide services to all staff and volunteers across the UK and internationally.

What you will be doing

• Reporting to the Information Security Manager, you will oversee the standards, assurance and governance for the systems and applications the British Red Cross use in line with our technology strategy, legal and regulatory landscape we work within to ensure the needs of our service users, supporters and staff are met.
• You will provide technical security advice, guidance, requirements, design & review in support of all business-related products, services and partner with and act as a key stakeholder for delivery of business initiatives by other departments.
• You will conduct risk assessments using best practice risk management methodologies to safeguard the integrity, availability, confidentiality of assets and perform IT security risk assessments and propose ways to minimise threats.
• You will monitor security vulnerabilities and hacking threats in network & host systems and ensure new systems are designed, developed and deployed with inherent security features commensurate with the risk.

Set the Technology Vision to ensure the systems and applications we use are secure and fit for purpose. We work with all stakeholders to understand the operations of the British Red Cross so that we challenge and provide support in driving improvements by advising on best practice for new and emerging technology ensuring it fits the Technology Vision. We embed appropriate standards that ensure the systems and applications we use enable the organisation to function in a secure and effective manner whilst minimising risk to our assets.

What we are looking for
With first-hand experience and knowledge of working in an operational support role with IT Security experience, you should have:

• Experience in managing Information Security frameworks, such as ISO/IEC 27001, NIST, PCI DSS.
• Experience in analysing and interpreting complex information and communicating it appropriately to a range of stakeholders.
• Experience as an ICT Security subject matter expert leading ICT Security design for a large public service organisation
• Understanding of Information Security frameworks, such as, but not limited to: PCI-DSS, GDPR, NHS Toolkit, Cyber Essentials.
• Knowledge of Technical Security controls such as Cryptography, Identity Management, Network Design.
• Understanding of risk management methodology and information security techniques.
• Ability to interpreted and maintain compliance with regulatory controls and relevant legislation
• Technical experience across a range of solutions and platforms.
• Proven ability to work under pressure and without direct supervision on many tasks, prioritising to meet deadlines and can manage the workload to achieve set targets.
• Holds or working towards security certification i.e. CISSP, CISM /ISO 27001 is desirable
