Trainee Water Technician
Kent & East Sussex
Salary: £17-19,000 + vehicle, fuel card, overtime & benefits
Our client provides essential water and waste water services across a number of water frameworks in the UK. They operate in dynamic and ever-changing environments across the water and wastewater sector and currently have a permanent role available for a Trainee Technician in the Kent and Sussex areas. The company is focused on delivering cost effective sustainable leakage reduction through analysis and investigation of water usage and the promotion of leaks and/or identification and logging of usage to ensure the company meets its leakage performance commitment.
Main Purpose of the Role
As this is a trainee role, initially you will be responsible for providing accurate and timely water meter reads across clients’ portfolios, updating current records and recording these on the company’s in-house software system. You will be working predominantly in the South East of England but there will be the requirement to travel around the UK as and when workload dictates.
Alongside the meter reading you will also be fully trained in leakage detection techniques, using a range of available methods including but not limited to, C.A.T and Genny, Listening stick, correlator and ground microphone to identify the accurate location of leaks. You will be taught how to complete leak reports to a standard acceptable by the Operations Manager/Operations Director enabling further leak repair works to be carried out by the company.
You will need to demonstrate a number of the key attributes outlined below:
A positive, can-do attitude and be open-minded to learning new techniques
Ideally some experience working in the water sector as a Meter Reader or Trainee Leakage Technician (not essential)
A full, valid UK driving licence (essential)
Good IT skills including Microsoft Word and Excel
Ability to work to a high standard individually and as part of a team.
Excellent communication and customer service skills.
Initially, the company are willing to pay a competitive rate between £17-19,000 per annum. You will be given a company vehicle, fuel card, overtime rates and other benefits.
